Bring a special family Home for the Holidays

When we think of the holidays, we often imagine drinking hot chocolate, sitting by a fireplace, sharing memories and gathering with our friends and family. Yet what these images make us long for most is the comfort of home.

This sense of home is still a distant reality for many hard-working families in the Metro Denver area. As low-income renters, they suffer frequent transition, dangerous neighborhoods and feelings of fear and insecurity. For these families, a home is much more than a place to bake cookies and wrap presents. It provides a sense of stability and a foundation from which to build the rest of their lives.

Every year, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver provides the meaning of home to dozens of deserving families. However we can’t do it alone. We rely on generous volunteers and donors to help us make homeownership a reality, and this year we are asking you to join us in our mission.

Meet Denise. Denise is a hard-working single mother of three who has never really looked forward to the holidays. She doesn’t know if she is going to be able to provide gifts for her children or even where they will be living from year to year. In 2011, Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver is partnering with Denise to provide her family with the gift of homeownership. The family is looking forward to finally finding some stability in a clean, safe and affordable Habitat home, as well as having their friends and family over for the holidays. “This home is going to impact my kids’ lives for the rest of their lives,” Denise said. “This is our first step in working towards a new future.”
